Meet the farmer
We (Sam and Liz) moved onto the farm in February 2021. We were able to purchase a mountainous, overgrazed, neglected 100acre property in Putty, NSW - about an hour north of Windsor in Sydney. We have a passion for regenerative agriculture and understand the importance of healthy food, free of chemicals.

Behind Hillside Food Forrest
How Our Chickens Are Raised
Hillside Food Forest raises chickens naturally on fresh pasture using regenerative, chemical-free farming practices.
Their birds are regularly moved onto clean ground, giving them space to:
Forage naturally
Exercise freely
Enjoy fresh pasture
Help improve soil health
This approach supports better animal welfare, healthier land and genuinely flavoursome chicken raised with care and purpose.

Why We do it
At Hillside Food Forest, we believe producing food should improve the land, not deplete it. That is why we use small-scale, chemical-free and regenerative farming practices that work with nature.
By raising multiple species and carefully managing how they move across the farm, we help restore soil health, increase biodiversity and create stronger, more resilient pastures.
We farm this way to produce better-tasting, nutrient-dense food while leaving the land healthier and more abundant for future generations.
Why Regenerative Farming Matters
Regenerative farming works with nature to rebuild soil, strengthen pastures and support healthier animals. Instead of simply taking from the land, it helps restore nutrients, improve biodiversity and create a more resilient farming system.
We believe it is the best way to farm because it produces better food while protecting the land for future generations. Healthier soil grows stronger pasture, stronger pasture supports healthier animals, and healthier animals produce more nutritious, better-tasting food.
It is farming with purpose—better for the soil, better for the animals and better for the people who eat the food.
